Applying Color Theory For Range and Key to the Figure (Online)
Instructor: Jason Patrick Jenkins
Location: Online
June 12 — August 14, 2021
Time: 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Tuition: $330

This class will be held online using Zoom for live teaching and Google Classroom for resources and materials. Students will need access to a laptop or desktop computer. Find further instructions for working online and the supply list at the bottom of the page.

In this class we will apply Henry Hensche’s optically driven color study method, guided by analytical principles of color theory, to working with the human figure. This enables the artist to not only maximize the chromatic potential represented within the subject, but also to be the author of their own selective emphasis – be it high key, low key, expanded range, or compressed range. We will work in a very procedurally oriented manner, examining hue, value, chroma, temperature, brightness, and opacity, to maximize the effective employment of our palette, and to raise the bar for the potential of our future figure work.
