Meet Our New Instructor, M. Tobias Hall

Our Fall 2020 semester has officially kicked off in our new space at Bok Building in South Philadelphia, and with that came new and exciting changes to our unique curriculum. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we were inspired to continue to offer virtual classes to students enrolled in our Advanced Fine Art Program and the Bachelor of Fine Arts program. This provided us an opportunity to invite new talented instructors to our staff, such as painter M. Tobias Hall.

Hall currently lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he also teaches drawing and painting at Ryder Studio School in Santa Fe and acts as a visiting and assistant instructor at France’s Studio Escalier. He has an MFA in Painting from the New York Academy of Art (class of 2017) and received his BA magna cum laude in Fine Arts with a focus animation from Arizona State University.

Describing himself as a “painter, draftsmen, and teacher”, Hall’s command of light, dark, and the in between spectrum when studying figure drawing made him an obvious choice to instruct our Level Two Figure Drawing: Graphite course. In this course students will expand their view of the human figure by considering a large field of vision while homing in on shapes, movements, and even how the body leverages itself against gravity.

“For a number of years, I have admired the artistic direction and the pedagogical philosophy of Studio Incamminati. I am absolutely thrilled to be invited to teach alongside the incredible artists who lead this great community. Thanks for the warm welcome!” Hall remarked on his new position.

We are thrilled to welcome Tobias to the Studio Incamminati community and look forward to the work our students will produce under his tutelage.
