Emerging Artists Program
Studio Incamminati Emerging Artists Program offers a unique opportunity for serious high-school students to learn the fundamentals of life drawing and painting in a traditional atelier environment. Through energetic and repetitive studies, students are guided through the complex, creative process of drawing and painting the human figure, which will include the use of nude models. Learning to capture the essence and energy of the human body on canvas with knowledge, strength, and understanding will be the course goal.
Each week a different part of the human anatomy will be the focus as well as an indepth focus on the head, neck, and shoulder as affects the portrait artist. Sessions are every other week for sixteen weeks and offer a series of intensive exercises specially designed to develop the students' visual skills and effectively engage the students in the dynamic creative process.
The low student-to-teacher ratio is designed to ensure individual attention and instruction. Space is limited in each session and will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis. Each student will receive a $25 gift certificate to use for supplies at the Studio Incamminati Store. This intensive, inspiring program will begin in early fall 2007 and end in May 2008.
The program includes frequent demonstrations by the Instructors and an invitation to visit Nelson Shanks’ private studio. Nelson will show students his works-in-progress and conduct a question and answer session. Students are also invited to attend Studio Incamminati lectures and events.
