Our Teaching

Studio Incamminati offers rigorous instruction in seeing, drawing and painting.   Through intense, concentrated studies, our students build rock solid foundations in drawing and painting the human figure and still life, working with light and shadow, refining form and shape, and interpreting and understanding color.   With these skills mastered, our students progress to create art with depth of purpose and richness in meaning.

Instructors selected by Nelson Shanks have developed exceptional ability to demonstrate and explain concepts and techniques as well as skill in drawing and painting.   Our students begin building teaching skills and establishing leadership roles first by serving as monitors and advance towards the role of instructor as their artistic proficiencies grow.

Studio Incamminati recognizes the challenges facing the person determined to become a professional artist.   Accordingly we provide our artists with every opportunity to gain the skills essential for fulfilling careers and lives in the arts.   In addition to teaching, these skills include exhibition preparation, grant writing, client relations and small business management.
