PA and National Standards for Art Educator Workshops
Still Life Workshop

Pennsylvania Department of Education Standards addressed:

9.1.12
A. Increase understanding of elements of color, shape and value. Increase understanding of the principles of contrast and proportion/scale.
B. Increase knowledge of painting and drawing.
C. Integrate and apply advanced vocabulary
E. Delineate a unifying theme through the production of a work of art that reflects skills in media processes and techniques
F. Analyze works of art influenced by experiences or historical and cultural events through production, performance or exhibition.
H. Evaluate the use and application of materials. Learn safe use of materials.
9.3.12
A. Explain and apply critical examination processes (evaluate/form judgments).
C. Apply systems of classification for interpreting works in the arts and forming a critical response.
Competencies
: The students will increase their knowledge of still life drawing and painting as well as improve their understanding of composition, shape, value, edges and color as they relate to still life. The student will increase their competency with the mediums of charcoal and oil paint. The student will increase their knowledge of the history of still life painting.
