The Fundamental Skills of Oil Painting: Form, Value and Color
The Fundamental Skills of Oil Painting: Form, Value and Color
Instructor: Lea Colie Wight
Monday-Friday
January 21 — January 25, 2019
Time: 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Tuition: $599

The workshop is aimed at beginning artists who want to begin their journey with the foundational skills in place as well as at mid-level and advanced painters who want to improve or refresh. The goal is for each artist to come away with understanding the components in order to practice the exercises and develop each skill in the months following the workshop.

Attendees work with the figure, portrait and still life as dictated by the skill being studied. The instructor demos each skill to the class as well as spending time at each easel giving personal instruction. This is a fast-paced, information-packed workshop. At the end of the workshop, there is an opportunity to block-in the start of a painting using the skills taught in the first days. This start is the most important part of a painting, providing the foundation upon which paintings are built.

Artists with the drive and dedication to learn will find this a very useful and valuable workshop.

EVENT FOR WORKSHOP STUDENTS ONLY
Thursday, Jan. 24, 5-9 P.M., Lea performs a four-hour demo of the opening stages of a full-color painting. During the demo she will describe how she is making use of each skill and answer questions.
