This class will be held online using Zoom for live teaching and Google Classroom for resources and materials. Students will need access to a laptop or desktop computer. Find further instructions for working online and the supply list at the bottom of the page.

This 6 week online course is especially crafted for the students interested in portraiture and deals with the essential structural, anatomical and physiognomic characteristics of the human head and neck, including the planes of the head, the skeletal and muscular structures and the external forms.

During each class, we will prepare a portrait using a photo reference that I will provide. During the course of this demo, the students will draw along with me, practicing measuring techniques and a variety of drawing techniques that include graphite, charcoal and chalk, trois crayon technique, reduction technique with the goal to expand the technical and artistic knowledge of the participating students. The students will have access to the recorded Zoom session for the duration of a month after the end of the course.

About the Instructor

Roberto Osti holds a BA in Anatomical and Surgical Drawing from the University of Bologna (Italy) and an MFA from the New York Academy of Fine Arts. He studied anatomy for medical and artistic purposes and has taught Figure Anatomy and Figure Drawing for more than a decade in various schools including the New York Academy of fine Arts, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the University of the Arts.

He also has offered workshops in various ateliers and universities.
His book "Basic Human Anatomy" was published in 2016 by The Monacelli Press and he has contributed articles to the relaunched "Artists Magazine."

Workshops Payment and Refund Policies
Due to limited class space, tuition is non-refundable. A credit for tuition may be issued up to
30 days before the first workshop class. No credit will be issued after that time. Credits are valid from one year of issue. Registration and enrollment is first-come, first-served with full tuition due at time of registration.
Continuing Education and Emerging Artists School-year Program Payment and Refund Policies
Due to limited class space, tuition must be paid in full at time of registration. A $100 fee is applied for cancellation up to the first class. No refunds will be issued after the first class.
