The Professional Program is designed for artists of all ages and levels of ability, from professionals seeking to expand their skills to talented young artists just embarking on their artistic journey. The Professional Program is intensive and immersive. Under the artistic direction of Nelson Shanks, an ARC Living Master, and working under instructors trained by him, artists at Studio Incamminati practice time-honored techniques of drawing and painting as the foundation for creative expression and meaningful visual communication.

Working in north-lit studios, artists progress from basic skills, such as gesture and proportion, as they draw in charcoal, to more advanced color study and other dynamic techniques as they paint still life, the figure, portraits, landscapes and interiors. Students study in intensive small groups with instructors whom Mr. Shanks has trained and with guest artists who are masters in their own right.

The Professional Program also addresses the practical skills necessary for a successful career, such as writing an artist’s statement and preparing for an exhibition.

Located in the Center City cultural district of Philadelphia, Studio Incamminati places its artists in a vibrant and stimulating atmosphere.  Studio Incamminati artists regularly visit Philadelphia’s great variety of museums and there are plays, concerts and lectures. The city’s location, convenient to New York and Washington, D. C., allows the opportunity to enhance the learning experience.

Tution is $6,000 per semester with a range of payment options.
