The Teaching Fellows Program allows Studio Incamminati students who have successfully completed the Professional Program and Teacher Training Program to continue working toward personal artistic and professional goals while in a mutually beneficial relationship with the school. In exchange for teaching classes, mentoring other artists and other duties, Teaching Fellows receive studio space, pay for instruction, and other benefits. This is a one-year program with an option to re-apply annually.
The Teaching Fellows Program has the following objectives:
- To support advanced level artists through teaching and other opportunities
- To allow advanced level artists to continue developing their artistic and professional goals while promulgating the principles learned to an ever-broadening audience of artists and the general public
- To help advanced level artists prepare the next generation of artists through teaching and mentoring in a nurturing environment
- To create an environment where advanced level artists can continue to grow and learn from each other as part of a “community of artists”
- To provide a way for Studio Incamminati to retain the highest quality artists whose goals most closely match our needs
Teaching Fellowship benefits include:
- A semi-private (or private if available--for a fee) studio space with north-facing light.
- Pay for teaching in the Professional Program, Evening and Weekend Program and workshops.
- Opportunities to teach in workshop(s) during 2011-2012 for Studio Incamminati and other organizations
- Opportunities to attend Professional Program classes with prior approval of administration and instructor and available space
- Opportunities to attend Evening and Weekend classes at a discounted rate
- Opportunities to participate in Studio Incamminati auctions, exhibitions, and lectures.
- Web site and other marketing support
For Teaching Fellows to be accepted and remain in the program, they must agree to:
- Attend weekly meetings pertaining to teaching, the curriculum and the development of artists
- Contact the office if unable to teach or participate in a scheduled meeting or program due to illness or other personal reasons, and to keep administration informed of any extended time away from Studio Incamminati
- Teach one or more classes per semester in the Professional Program and/or outreach programs in schools and community centers. In addition, teach a minimum of two workshops per year as directed
- Work with the Director of Education Programming and Artistic Director to ensure the individual progress of all artists
- Participate in critiques of artists
- Review teaching applications for Professional, Evening and Weekend, and Workshop programs as requested
- Review all applications to the Professional Program and conduct interviews with applicants
- Mentor Studio Incamminati artists a minimum of one day per week in semi-private/private studios or as directed
- Have their semi-private/private studios open from 12:00 noon to 12:45 PM at least one day per week as directed for Studio Incamminati artists to visit
- Direct all inquires received for outside workshops to Studio Incamminati: All requests must be channeled through and managed by Studio Incamminati
- Obligatory submission of exemplary artwork for all SI auctions and exhibitions
- Assume a leadership role through teaching, mentoring, and assisting other artists to achieve their goals
- Share their knowledge and expertise with others
14. Speak positively about Studio Incamminati and market Studio Incamminati to the
outside world
TEACHING FELLOW ELIGIBILITY
- Applicant must have successfully completed Levels One through Four and produced artwork to the standard acceptable to the Artistic Director
- Applicant must have successfully participated in the “teaching track” program
- Applicant must have participated in Studio Incamminati auctions and exhibitions
- Applicant must have demonstrated that he /she acted in a professional manner and worked with the Studio Incamminati administration to help create a positive learning environment for all artists
